Description

The commune of Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer is organizing four exhibitions entitled "Cap au Sud" (Heading South) from June 8 to August 18 at Cent79 and La Halle, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, highlighting Canada and Congo-Brazzaville. The exhibition features works by artist Patricia Bourque, photographers Therance Ralff Lhyliann and Baudouin Mouanda, and Olivier Mériel. These exhibitions highlight the shared history and cultural links between Normandy, Canada and the Congo. Patricia Bourque exhibits portraits of the Micmac community, while Therance Ralff Lhyliann documents the lives of children in the equatorial forest. Baudouin Mouanda presents colorful scenes of flooding in Brazzaville to raise awareness of climate change. Olivier Mériel exhibits photos taken during a residency in Congo in 2023. In parallel, an initiative involving young people from Saint-Aubin, Congo and Canada, aims to cross perspectives on their territories. These exhibitions celebrate shared memory and contemporary environmental issues.
