Description
In partnership with Les Muséales de Tourouvre. In the 17th century, Tourouvre and the surrounding area were the main departure point for French emigration to Canada, with 328 people from the Perche region setting off to seek a new life in New France. Many of their descendants, including families like the Tremblays and Gagnons, now live in Canada. Fabienne Demeule, historian and visitor adviser at the Hauts du Perche Tourist Office, will explore this wave of emigration through the stories of the Percheron pioneers. She will also present Les Muséales and the Terres de nos ancêtres programme, a roots tourism initiative designed to help Canadians reconnect with their French heritage.
