The Georgelet, Zelnik, Chesnel trio, accompanied by trombonist Thierry Lhiver, offer two exceptional evenings to celebrate the release of the album Live for Gil, a tribute to Gil Evans, a major figure in jazz and a historic collaborator of Miles Davis. Born of the desire to give new life to The Individualism of Gil Evans (1964), considered the master arranger?s masterpiece and initially performed by some fifteen musicians, this project is based on a major retranscription project, the original scores having disappeared after the recording. Supported by the conservatories of Orléans and Caen, it reveals that this powerful music can also flourish within a tight four-piece ensemble: David Georgelet (drums), Yonis Zelnik (double bass), François Chesnel (piano) and Thierry Lhiver (trombone).
