On June 6, 2026, Langrune-sur-Mer will host the international ceremony marking the 82nd anniversary of D-Day, at 4:30 p.m., at the monument to the 48th Royal Marine Commando, Place du 6 Juin (by invitation only). This ceremony will be preceded by a musical prelude at 3.45 p.m. and a collective moment of reflection at 3 p.m. at the Canadian military cemetery in Bény-Reviers (by invitation only).
The official dignitaries expected to attend have not yet been announced by the Landing Committee, which is organizing the ceremony.
A ceremony dedicated to children will also take place the day before, on June 5, 2026. It will bring together no fewer than 400 elementary and middle school students from the town and surrounding area. open only to parents.
Traffic update : Since the ceremony will take place in the afternoon, vehicle traffic will be prohibited in the town of Langrune-sur-Mer starting at noon until the evening, when the police roadblocks are lifted.

Langrune-sur-Mer is located in the Sword Beach sector.
The Allied forces did not land on the town’s beach.
Located at the junction of Allied sectors, Langrune-sur-Mer was liberated on June 7, 1944.
After landing on Juno Beach, the British 48th Royal Marine Commando (attached to the 3rd Canadian Division) liberated the town by land on June 7, 1944.

Dennis Donovan : the living memory of the 48th Commando
The last surviving member of the British commando unit, Dennis Donovan was only 20 years old when he landed at Langrune-sur-Mer in June 1944. A faithful participant in commemorative events and close to the local community, he passed away in December 2024.
In tribute to his courage, a memorial garden facing the beach now bears the name Dennis Donovan.
