Description
Voices from California ring out in Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer
On Thursday 2 July 2026 at 8.30 pm, the church in Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer will host an exceptional musical event: a concert by the Chico Community Choirs, a vocal ensemble from California performing as part of their French tour.
Bringing together talented young singers and experienced adult choristers, this intergenerational ensemble builds on a legacy of nearly 25 years of artistic excellence. Founded as part of the Children’s Choir of Chico, the choirs have performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, as well as in Central Europe during tours to Prague, Vienna, Salzburg, Slovenia, Croatia and Hungary.
Under the direction of Susan Tevis, a recognised figure in music education and choral conducting in the United States, the singers will present a rich and varied programme blending sacred music, contemporary works, world music and iconic pieces from the choral repertoire.
The audience will be treated to works by Leonard Bernstein, Antonio Vivaldi, Bob Chilcott, Mendelssohn and Delibes, performed at times by the separate ensembles and at other times by the full choir in all its power and sensitivity.
Set against the majestic backdrop of the church in Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer, this concert promises a moment of shared experience and emotion, carried by voices from across the Atlantic and driven by a passion for choral singing.
Free admission.
A rare opportunity to discover the excellence of American choral singing in the heart of the Côte de Nacre.
