La Cantellerie

A magnificent mansion built in 1868 on the most beautiful street in Courseulles-sur-Mer, La Cantellerie offers the charm of an old family home and the tranquillity of its garden in the heart of the town. This garden attracts many birds that come to rest and feed here, to whom La Cantellerie owes part of its name: ‘the song of the birds’.

Shops, restaurants, the beach and the harbour are just a few minutes’ walk away. The house is ideally situated for a relaxing break, but also for cultural exploration: the Juno Beach Centre, dedicated to our dear Canadian friends who came (all volunteers!!) to liberate France, is within walking distance, whilst the American and English beaches are just a few kilometres away. Bayeux and its tapestry are also a 20-minute drive away. And why not spend a day at Mont Saint Michel?

Completely and recently renovated, the house has 5 bedrooms, including 2 family suites and 1 triple room, all with en-suite bathrooms and toilets; at the entrance to the property, our little gîte lives up to its name: ‘Le Nid’ (The Nest), a true cocoon for lovers.

On the ground floor of the main building, the communal areas await you: a large dining room for breakfast and dinner, lounges, and more… we want our home to feel like your own during your stay. In the garden, armchairs and sun loungers are there for you in the summer, ready for a relaxing moment after a busy day.

We take particular care with our breakfasts, and our guests appreciate this special moment: yoghurts, fruit salad, granola, jams, fresh fruit juice… everything is homemade. Bread too, on certain days. And for those with a sweet tooth, we can offer, on request, a fried organic egg, perhaps accompanied by ham or cheese. Homemade rice pudding or artisanal custard sometimes round off the extensive menu. We serve breakfast in the large dining room where all our guests gather.

Upon reservation, La Cantellerie also offers a table d’hôtes, featuring fresh, hearty cuisine made with regional produce – home-style yet sometimes more adventurous: fresh fish, seasonal scallops, local cheeses, homemade desserts, and more. Cooking is our second passion.

In summer, our guests have access to our beach hut to make the most of the beach and get changed more easily. We even sometimes serve dinners there, or simple platters of oysters or seafood, so you can admire the sunset in style
