Description
21 st edition of "La semaine acadienne": CONCERT BY THE CELEBRATE LEBLANC FAMILY (New Brunswick), August 13 at 8:30 p.m., in the Saint-Aubin-sur-mer gymnasium, followed by a cooking party with the other artists (light refreshments available on site).
The LeBlanc Family performs 19th-century tunes that are deeply rooted in Celtic and Acadian traditions and mostly unknown to other Celtic nations such as Ireland, Brittany and Scotland, to name just a few. With their three daughters playing concertina, whistle and fiddle, the mother sings some of the oldest Acadian songs and ballads accompanied on the piano by baroque, jazz and traditional arrangements played by the father. Through their music, La Famille LeBlanc takes you to Poitou in France, where the Acadians arrived as refugees in the mid-18th century, then on to Louisiana and back to Canada's east coast for a feast of Acadian cuisine.
