Description

Bal de Maison is a group of French musicians based in the Centre region who fell in love with the culture of the Cajuns, a French-speaking people based in southern Louisiana. Over the course of their many trips to Louisiana since 1990, they have developed a particular attraction to the music of the Cajuns, an important part of their culture, and have learned to play it. This upbeat, danceable music is essentially waltzes, two-steps and blues, sung in Old French. It's a melting pot of French music, blues, Creole, country, Irish and many other styles. Bal de Maison has been around since 2002 and is an integral part of the Cajun landscape in France. The group has played at a number of festivals and events in France, Europe and Louisiana: the Grand Bal de L'Europe, Les Nuits Cajun de Saulieu, the Pontchartrain festival Un Pont vers la Louisiane, the Changé d'Air festival, the Cajun Barn (England), in dance halls such as La Poussière and Randol's (Louisiana)... These enthusiasts bring Cajun music to life as they learned it in Louisiana. Two months after the group was formed, they recorded the CD "Bal De Maison", made entirely by themselves and mixed at home, which gave the group its name. Their second CD was released in early 2007, and their latest CD, "La Broussaille", came out of the studios in 2023. Come and discover Cajun music, and get your feet moving!
