Description

Founded in 2010 by Renée Samson, Les pieds au vol was born of a passion that has never left her: dance, music and cultural transmission. Very early on, Renée felt the call to share her Acadian heritage through shows presented in the province, elsewhere in the country and even internationally. With Les Pieds au Vol, she instils in her young dancers, with a touch of modernity, the pride of passing on as a team their community's unique style of traditional dance.

Through our shows, we tell the story of our identity, our history and our traditions. For us, dance is a living language that brings people together, a powerful means of showcasing Acadian culture while creating authentic links with our audiences.

Made up of dancers from several Acadian communities in our little corner of Richmond County, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, our troupe embodies a beautiful cultural diversity. This richness is reflected in our energy on stage, our spirit of collaboration and our deep commitment to our heritage. In 2020, Renée Samson fulfilled a cherished dream by opening her own dance studio, Islandview Athletics, in her home. This project enabled her to preserve her family life while pursuing her cultural mission. Today, she is fortunate to be assisted by her former students, who have become coaches in their own right, and who share the same passion and vision of dance as a springboard for culture and identity. Above all, Les Pieds au Vol aims to celebrate and promote Acadian culture in an accessible, dynamic and authentic way.
