From 7 to 15 August 2026, an Acadian breeze will blow across Saint Aubin sur mer, Douvres-la-Délivrande, Carpiquet, Beny-sur-mer, Bernières-sur-mer, Luc-sur-mer, Langrune-sur-mer, Authie and the Juno Beach centre at Courseulles-sur-mer for the 21st edition of "La Semaine Acadienne".
Created to pay tribute to the Acadian soldiers who landed on the beaches of Normandy on 6 June 1944, and to celebrate the vitality of today's Acadia, this festival, which will be returning to its roots in 2026 at Saint-Aubin-sur-mer, is the biggest event devoted to the whole of Acadia in France, with over 12,000 participants, and the flagship event of the summer on the Côte de Nacre.
As part of its 21st edition, "La semaine acadienne" will have the honour of welcoming - Jonathan Dassin, in a tribute concert to the songs of his father Joe Dassin - The LeBlanc family, Moyenne Rig, Petitcodiac (New Brunswick) - Jeanette Arsenault (Ontario / Prince Edward Island) - Port aux Poutines & Adrian House (Newfoundland and Labrador) - Tradition'iles (Magdalen Islands / Quebec) - Les frères Lemay et Gullivan (Quebec / France) Louis Michot (Louisiana) - Les pieds au vol (Nova Scotia) - Terry Scott JR (Great Britain) - Bal de maison, Le quatuor de Paris , le duo "Playtime", Les fifres et tambours d'Aunis Saintonge, the theatrical performance "Les conquérants" (France) - Sussie Arvesen & Terry Bradford
The programme will be rounded off by ceremonies in honour of Acadian soldiers in Carpiquet, Bernières-sur-Mer, Authie, Courseulles-sur-Mer, Bény-sur-Mer and Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer, documentary screenings, events, workshops, a parade of vintage vehicles, a theme day on "Life at the time of the landings", a discovery rally, a Canadian karaoke, a Canadian music festival, and a "D-Day" event. a Canadian karaoke, workshops and storytelling for children on the theme of Acadia, a culinary workshop and an Acadian brunch, a Cajun ball, a historical walking tour "L'acadienne" with commentary by Canadian guides from the Juno Beach Centre, which will go from Saint-Aubin-sur-mer to the Juno Beach Centre at Courseulles, a cyclo-historical tour "La North Shore" between Saint-Aubin-sur-mer and Carpiquet.And let's not forget 15 August, National Acadian Day, with a mass dedicated to the Acadians, the grand tintamarre on the sea wall at Saint-Aubin-sur-mer and the closing dinner-concert.
