Description
On Sunday 28 June at 6pm, the Choeur Marguerite Rioult from Courseulles will join forces with two other choirs: Interlude (Falaise) and La Dives à l'Unisson (Saint Pierre sur Dives) to perform a concert version of Giuseppe Verdi's opera La Traviata. The performance will take place in the Salle de l'Edit (rue de l'Edit) in Courseulles.
Fanny Le Roy will accompany the chorus and soloists on the piano. Verdi's opera "La Traviata", composed in 1852, is a musical version of Alexandre Dumas fils's novel "La Dame aux Camélias". The chorus was conducted by Camille Nicolas, who also took on the role of Violetta, the unhappy heroine of the work, as a soprano. Alfredo, Violetta's lover, will be played by tenor Jérémy Florent, and Nicolas François will lend his baritone voice to Germont, Alfredo's father. These three soloists will be surrounded by the full chorus (80 singers), which is a fully-fledged character in the work, since its interventions involve dialogue with Violetta, Alfredo and Germont. The audience will recognise some of the great arias: the famous Libiamo, which leads the audience into the festivities, the Zingarelles (for the ladies' voices) and the Matadors (for the gentlemen).
