Description
Three Types of Boat Licenses (Permits)
The Coastal License (Permis Côtier) allows navigation, both day and night, up to 6 nautical miles (approximately 11 km) from a shelter. The training lasts 3 days over one weekend (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, with the exam taking place on Monday afternoon). The minimum age required is 16 years old, subject to medical fitness (aptitude) conditions.
The Offshore License (Permis Hauturier), which allows navigation with no distance limit from the coast (and typically requires the Coastal License as a prerequisite in France), is available for one session in October.
