Description

Cap Romain gets its name from the vestiges of Roman and Gallo-Roman settlements. The cliff is 6 to 7 meters high and about 500 meters long and borders the beaches of Bernières-sur-mer and Saint-Aubin-sur-mer. It is regarded as an open-air geological museum: erosion has revealed an exceptionnal fossil sponge reef , a section that serves as reference for the Jurassic period as well as quaternary deposits attesting to the last glacial period.
